I just listened to episode 5 on your podcast. I’m also a special needs parent. Our stories are very similar, so I found this actually encouraging. Finding people with the same struggles in the special needs world is like spotting a unicorn- rare & oddly wonderful.
My husband & I also have an 8 year old son with autism. He’s an only child too. We share the same fears & frustrations on day to day independence, as well as his future. All I know is to take it one day at a time. We also rely on our faith to carry us. Thank you for opening up so candidly about raising a special needs child.
Thank you for listening April. You and your husband are exactly the reason Jaana and I wanted to start this podcast. The isolation can be maddening even after you think you’ve found a community to rally with. And sometimes the only way to cope with the reality is laughing! 🙂
